Power
In
2004, employees of Alabama Power pulled 2˝ tons of trash
from 20 miles of the Mobile River. The company hosted the 1st
Annual Alabama Coastal Alabama Birdfest and supported a host
of local conservation and environmental groups with time and
talent. Finally, the Green Team volunteered over 375 hours
in 2004 in support of the company’s commitment to
environmental stewardship.

Under
the watchful management of Jim Bruce, Austin Industrial
insures that all jobs that have the potential to pose any
form of environmental distress are managed with the highest
regard for safety and environmental compliance. As a
construction and maintenance firm, Austin management takes
the extra time to cover all the potential hazards related to
personnel, equipment, and the environment. This makes a
difference in the performance and safety consciousness of
each employee. Finally, employees participate in the
Coastal Clean-up and similar projects each year.

Smith Industrial Service (SIS)
Smith
Industrial Service of Mobile, along with its sister company
Roto Rooter help keep the Gulf Coast safer, and provide an
environmentally conscious resource to the local businesses
and residents. Company crews video inspect and clean
sanitary sewer mains and storm drains for Mobile Area Water
and Sewer, Prichard Water Works, the City of Chickasaw,
Daphne Utilities, the City of Pascagoula and more. Roto
Rooter also repairs and replaces sewer laterals daily
reducing sanitary sewer overflows and reducing the amount of
untreated sewage in our community.

Welding Engineering Supply
Corporation (WESCO)
WESCO
has been a good corporate citizen in the city of Prichard
for approximately 30 years helping companies like Bender
Shipbuilding, Ingalls (now Litton Industries, and others
upgrade their welding capabilities. They are a leader in
their industry for adherence to national standards for
safety and training. They recently built a state of the art
Acetylene plant in Prichard that is a model for
environmental safety.

Orion Engineering, Inc.
Orion
Engineering has contracted to develop the mechanical and
process systems for EarthFirst Technologies, Inc.’s
Catalytically Activated Vacuum Distillation (CADV) process.
Its application at Orion consists of converting used tires
into oil, gas, carbon and steel. Orion designed the CAVD
reactor and related systems and is now at the forefront for
the design and implementation of this world-changing
technology which transforms used tires into saleable
products.

& Associates
Bill May represents his firm and our
organization in his numerous volunteer efforts in the
community. As an avid outdoorsman who cares about the
environment, he participates in the Coastal Clean-up on a
yearly basis. Bill is especially proud of his participation
in annual Kids Day Fishing event sponsored by the Eastern
Shore Chapter of the Coastal Conservation Association and
the Boys & Girls Clubs of Baldwin County. |
