2010 PEP Environmental
Stewardship Awards

The PEP Board
of Directors awarded the 2010 Environmental Stewardship
Awards to the 12 participating entities of
By-Product Synergy Central Gulf Coast.
The Board
ialso recognizing two project partners for sharing their
vision and expertise with the project: Jim Backes and Dr.
John Steadman.

In May
2009, PEP officially launched its
By-Product Synergy Central Gulf Coast
project to achieve significant economic benefits for
participating companies while simultaneously advancing
regional environmental protection. Using a process developed
by the U.S. Business Council for Sustainable Development,
PEP formed a diverse network of companies to actively seek
opportunities to turn one company’s waste or by-product into
raw materials for another. This effort has resulted in
“win-win” projects that will enhance the region’s triple
bottom line, by providing economic, environmental and social
benefits.
By joining
the network and making significant financial and man-power
commitments to the project, these 12 entities have
demonstrated
environmental leadership and steadfast commitment to a more
sustainable region.
